Corn - 1995-1996 All Time Highs

An incredible bull market developed in Corn and other grains during 1995 and 1996. The Corn market started a nice steady rally in later 1995 and then really exploded in the spring of 1996. Supplies were exteremly tight and exports were strong with China a big buyer. The spring and summer can the corn market to be very volatile due to weather concerns. It was certainly happening in 1996. With tight supplies, fears of crop losses due to droughts, etc. are accelerated. That's why the spring planting season and the summer growing/pollination periods cause so much volatility. The winter months lack activity and news, therefore the price movements are usually less volatile.
